Do I Need A Mix?
If you're asking this question, it means you're not totally confident in your personal mix. The best thing you can do is get a pro to listen to it and tell you honest feedback in detail. Sometimes it doesn't need a mix because it's done very well. In that case, great! Move on to mastering!
Sometimes people want to know "is it good enough for me to save the money and go right to mastering?". Maybe. There might be some sacrifices. Just be honest with me, and I'll be honest with you. I totally get it, trust me.
Sometimes your track doesn't just need a mix - it may not be finished. That's an entirely different issue, and I will let you know if that's what I think, along with suggestions, free of charge.

What Is Your Studio's Mixing Approach?
Mixing is very separate from writing, production, and mastering. I approach mixing as its own specific process, and utilize a hybrid digital & analog framework. That means I utilize a DAW (UAD Luna specifically for mixing), but with analog routing and / or summing incorporated. I utilize a hand-wired 16 channel summing mixer and a 96 point patchbay system to quickly and easily route any gear into my sessions that I need. A hybrid setup means fast and efficient recall of a project when working with you on changes or revisions, and utilizing digital and analog where each is best suited to achieve the goal of the project.
What Kind Of Gear Do You Use?
I treat Digital processing as important as hardware. But let's be honest - if your'e asking this, you just want to know about the analog stuff. Here's a few select pieces:

Do You Charge For Revisions?
No. Not yet. I think revisions are part of the process. As you hear your music get closer to what you wanted it to really be, you start hearing things you may not have before. Usually revisions aren't needed. But sometimes a few are. That should never get in the way of your final product. I try to encourage people to keep it to only a few revisions max and be certain about choices, though. If you substitute new parts, I do have a nominal fee.
Speaking Of Fees, What Are Your Rates?

I mix based on number of stems. Some people balk at this, but the truth is artists sometimes only have about 8 stems, and sometimes I work with bands with close to 100. There's a difference between those two jobs. A big one. They should not be charged the same.
